Our art gallery features wonderful pieces by local artists working in a variety of mediums. Unique and original paintings can be found during our regular daily displays and exhibitions.
We believe that art has meaning, not only in the creator’s eyes but also in the eyes of the beholder.
By connecting the community with our artists and area art lovers, we host art receptions at our gallery. We also host art classes and fun workshops with the hope that our community can have a chance to be empowered by the healing effect that art has on one’s inner-self.
Due to the current health crisis caused by the corona virus, this year’s Art exhibition commemorating Jamaica’s fifty eighth Independence from England will be held virtually. The exhibition is usually held at the African Museum of The Arts, Deland Florida.
Exhibition Title: “ARTISTIC XPRESSION”
Artist: Kenneth Harris Exhibition Dates July 20th – August 31st 2020
Jamaica’s diverse ethnic roots is reflected in the national motto ‘Out Of Many, One People’. Most of the population of 2,812,000 (July 2018 est.) are of African or partially African descent, with many being able to trace their origins to the West African countries of Ghana and Nigeria. Other major ancestral areas are Europe, South Asia, and East Asia. It is uncommon for Jamaicans to identify themselves by race as is prominent in other countries such as the United States, with most Jamaicans seeing Jamaican nationality as an identity in and of itself, identifying as simply being ‘Jamaican’ regardless of ethnicity
